When you're looking for CBD oil, you’ll quickly come across dozens of options, and it’s hard to know where to start. The best CBD oil isn’t the same for everyone. It all depends on your needs, your experience, and the quality of the product. Follow along to find the one that’s right for you.

Things to remember

  • The best CBD oil depends mainly on your goal: relaxation, sleep, recovery, or stress management.

  • The quality of the hemp, the extraction process, and the brand’s transparency are essential criteria.

  • The right dosage and the right CBD spectrum make all the difference in your experience.

Why There Isn't a Single "Best" CBD Oil

CBD doesn't work the same way for everyone

Your body, your lifestyle, your stress levels or even your sensitivity to cannabidiol can influence how you feel. Two people using the same CBD oil may have very different experiences.

That is whyit’s better to think in terms of needs rather than in terms of the perfect product.

Your experience with CBD is also an important factor.

If you're just starting out, it's often best to choose an oil with a moderate concentration, such as our 20% CBD oil. This allows you to discover the effects of cannabidiol without being caught off guard by a dosage that’s too high.

Conversely, people who have been using CBD for a while sometimes prefer more concentrated oils. This makes it easier for them to adjust their dosage.

Criteria for Choosing a Good CBD Oil

The origins of hemp

The quality of CBD oil always starts with the quality of the plant. The hemp used must be grown under proper conditions, free from pesticides and heavy metals. European crops are often preferred because they meet strict agricultural standards.

Well-grown hemp yields a purer extract that is richer in cannabinoids, like the one we use for our affordable CBD oils Mama Kana.

The extraction method

Supercritical CO2 extraction is often considered the cleanest method. It preserves the cannabinoids and terpenes present in the plant without using harsh solvents. This technique yields more stable and purer oil.

Less rigorous extraction methods can compromise the quality of the final product. That is why reputable brands often provide details about their extraction process.

Brand transparency

High-quality CBD oils are generally tested by independent laboratories. These tests verify the actual cannabidiol concentration and ensure the absence of contaminants.

When the brand makes this information available, it demonstrates a certain level of reliability. Conversely, a product that provides no information about its ingredients often warrants a degree of caution.

Understanding the Different Types of CBD Oils

To make an even more informed choice about which oil to use and how it works, it’s important to understand the differences between full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, and isolate CBD oils

Full-spectrum oils

The so-called full-spectrum contain all the cannabinoids found in the hemp plant, including a legal trace amount of THC. These oils also contain terpenes and other natural compounds from the plant.

This combination creates what is known as the entourage effect. The various components of hemp work together and can enhance each other’s effects.

Broad-spectrum oils

The broad-spectrum CBD oils are very similar to full-spectrum oils, but they do not contain THC. They do, however, retain several of the cannabinoids and terpenes found in the plant.

This type of oil may be suitable for people who want to avoid THC entirely while still enjoying a relatively complete hemp extract.

CBD isolates

Isolate-based oils contain only pure cannabidiol. In this case, the other natural compounds in hemp are removed during the extraction process.

This type of oil may be of interest for people who want to consume only CBD without other cannabinoids.

However, some people find that full-spectrum oils offer a more balanced experience.

How do you choose the concentration that's right for you?

Understanding CBD Percentages

CBD oils are typically sold with a percentage indicating the concentration of cannabidiol. For example, a 5% oil contains less CBD than a 20% oil. This doesn’t necessarily mean that one is better than the other. It all depends on your goal and your sensitivity to CBD.

Find your personal dosage

The right CBD dosage varies from person to person. What works for someone else won’t necessarily be right for you. The best approach is usually to start slowly and observe the effects over several days.

Here are a few simple tips to get you started:

  • Start with a low concentration;

  • Start by taking a few drops a day;

  • Adjust gradually based on how you feel.

The Importance of Carrier Oil Quality

In CBD oil, cannabidiol is always diluted in a carrier oil that plays arole in absorption and in the overall quality of the product.

Hemp oil is particularly popular because it is naturally rich in essential fatty acids. It therefore works well in a hemp-based product.

MCT oil, derived from coconuts, is also popular because it helps the body absorb CBD.
