Listen carefully, if you want your CBD to stay good, potent, and fresh, you need to learn how to store it properly. CBD reacts to its environment, whether it be light, heat, air, or humidity. So here are my tips for storing and preserving your CBD.
Light, especially UV light, breaks down CBD molecules and destroys terpenes without you even realizing it. And when terpenes are damaged, so are the aromas.
If you want to keep your CBD in good condition, keep it away from light. A cupboard, drawer, opaque box—whatever you like, but not in direct sunlight!
Heat, quite simply, damages everything. Oils become unstable, flowers dry out, resins change texture. Above 20°C, CBD already begins to degrade.
Every time you open your jar, air gets in. And air oxidizes. Your CBD then loses its potency and taste, and therefore also its quality. So you open it, take what you need, and close it again. That's it!
Too much humidity = mold. Not enough = dry, fragile flowers that lose all their aroma. The correct humidity for storing CBD flowers should be between 58 and 62%. Below or above this, you are damaging your product without realizing it.
Flowers are like herbs; they absorb moisture, lose their taste and smell—in short, they react. To best preserve your CBD flowers, you should:
Mama's tip: a small humidity regulator can make all the difference. It keeps flowers fresh, not too dry or too damp... just right.
Oils are better protected thanks to their fatty base, but that doesn't mean they're invincible. They don't like light, heat, or air. To store your CBD oil, I recommend keeping it in its tinted glass bottle, upright and tightly closed. And above all, not in the bathroom or near a window.
And when you use the pipette, put it back in the bottle immediately. Don't let the oil breathe.
Resins are stronger than flowers, but they hate temperature fluctuations. Too hot, and they soften. Too cold, and they harden. Too humid, and they deteriorate. An opaque, airtight jar in a temperate location is all you need.
CBD CBD e-liquids are fairly stable, but when exposed to heat, the nicotine (if your liquid contains it) and flavors can change. I recommend storing them upright in a dark cupboard. And I advise you to avoid leaving them in your car, as it gets too hot in there!
CBD CBD creams and balms do not like condensation or temperature changes. So if you used to leave them in your bathroom... stop doing that. Keep them in a dry place at a stable temperature and you will extend their shelf life.
Here's how I store my CBD, and if you want your CBD to stay as good as mine, here are a few simple steps I recommend you follow. No need to overcomplicate things.
Glass is neutral, clean, stable, and does not react with terpenes. Plastic, on the other hand, lets air in, traps odors, and can even alter the taste over time. With glass, you avoid all these problems.
Whether for CBD oils, flowers, or resins, opacity protects against UV rays.
If the product packaging is tinted, opaque, or metal, that's a very good sign.
A poorly closed jar, and your CBD ages ten times faster. Always check that the jar is closed properly.
