When we talk about CBD for animals, we often think of dogs and cats. And that's normal, they're the ones closest to us. But did you know that you can also offer it to other companions? I'm taking you beyond the classic duo to explore the many benefits of CBD for the well-being of other species : horses, rabbits and even exotic pets...

To remember

  • CBD can also be used on animals other than dogs and cats.
  • For external use only: local application to certain areas.
  • Product quality and careful use are essential, whatever the species.

CBD can be adapted to other animal species

Today, the CBD market for pets has expanded. And not for nothing: many owners are looking for natural and gentle solutions to accompany the comfort of their pets, even more original than usual. As you may know, NACs (New Companion Animals) such asparrots, lizards and snakes are being adopted more and more often.

Breeders, caretakers or individuals are now using adapted CBD oils, externally applied, on animals such as:

  • Horses, often under physical strain,
  • Rabbits are very sensitive to stress and their environment,
  • Rodents, such as guinea pigs and ferrets,
  • Certain birds, reptiles and exotic animals.

Obviously, each animal has its own specificities. The aim is to listen to their reactions and use appropriate products in small quantities, on targeted areas, but never by ingestion.

Local application is the safest form of treatment

As I often say, topical use is the gentlest and safest way to support your companion's well-being. There's no question of pouring anything into the bowl, because dosages vary widely from one individual to another.

By opting for a local application, you can better target the areas concerned. Neck, back, paws, or even the base of the ears... it's up to you to choose according to your companion's reactions and preferences.

This gesture has several advantages. Firstly, it allows you to better observe his feelings: you can see right away whether he likes it or not. Secondly, it's a moment of bonding and complicity, especially with sensitive animals. And you avoid the risks associated with an internal grip, which is always trickier to control with our furry, feathered and scaly friends.

Whether it's after a walk, during a stressful moment or simply to prolong a care session, the cutaneous application enables a targeted, gentle and gradual action, without rushing your pet.

And of course, I always advise you to choose CBD products for animals, formulated without perfume, without aggressive essential oils and with a gentle concentration. These are the criteria that guide each of my selections.

Each animal has its own specific needs

As with humans, there is no universal solution. CBD, if used externally and with care, can soothe some animals in their daily lives, as long as their rhythm and nature are respected.

For horses, often subjected to physical exertion, CBD oil can be part of apost-exertion care routine. Riders sometimes use it as a gentle massage after a race or ride, to support recovery.

For rabbits, small rodents and exotic pets, it's best to use it on an occasional basis. They are very sensitive to stress and handling, so it's best to avoid sudden movements. Here again, a few drops, applied outside, may be enough to comfort them in a more intense moment.

As for more classic animals, you can find products formulated specifically for them, such as CBD oils for cats or CBD oils for dogs. With adjusted dosages and clear compositions, you'll be sure to do your companion the world of good.

Choosing the right CBD product for your pet

First and foremost, it's important to remember that every animal is different, and that their physiology is not the same as that of humans. It's not enough to adapt one of our products for animal use. You have to choose a product designed for them, with :

  • a low, clear dosage,
  • 100% natural composition,
  • zero THC,
  • available analyses,
  • a formulation that's easy to apply locally.

My products for animals meet these criteria: no superfluous ingredients, a gentle oil and simple application, so that skincare remains a pleasant, stress-free moment.

As you now know, CBD isn't just for cats and dogs. It can also be a gentle companion for other pets and livestock. The key is always to respect their rhythm, their nature and, above all, local, targeted use, without any constraints.
