Resin is one of the most popular products derived from hemp on ourCBD buying site. However, this type of product remains relatively unknown, especially when it comes to the conditions under which it is manufactured. So I thought it would be a good idea to introduce you to the various processes involved in making CBD resin resin through this article!
Reminder: What is CBD resin?
Also known as hashish, hash or pollen, CBD resin is a product derived from hemp. Specifically, it is derived from the secretory glands of female cannabis plants. When the flowers remain unpollinated for a certain period of time, a resin composed of trichomes is formed. There are several techniques for harvesting this resin.

The different manufacturing processes for CBD resin
The sieve or dry sieving method
This is certainly the most widespread technique. The sieve method involves separating the cannabinoids and terpenes from the rest of the plant. To implement this technique, growers generally use a bowl covered with a fine cloth or sieve. They then place the flowers on top and seal the bowl with plastic to secure the whole.
The next step in the process is to knock out the trichomes by tapping the top of the bowl with chopsticks. The resulting kief should then be kneaded in the bowl for five to ten minutes to warm it up. This can be done either manually or with a pollen press. To obtain the best quality resin, refining can last several days. After dry sieving, the resulting hash can be stored for many years, provided it is kept in a cool, dark place.
The "Ice-o-Lator" method
While the sieve method relies on heat, the IceO'Lator method relies more on cold to separate cannabinoids and terpenes from the rest of the plant.
To begin with, the flowers are placed in a freezer for 48 hours. They should then be placed in a container filled with water and ice cubes, which will allow the trichomes to contract and thus detach more easily.
The next step is to mix everything together using a blender, bubbleator or even a drill! This stage generally takes between 5 and 15 minutes.
Finally, it is necessary to separate the trichomes from the plant, as well as the resin from the water, each time using a sieve with a suitable mesh size. After air-drying the resin, without exposing it to light or heat, it can be stored for many years.
The hand-rolling method
The hand-rolling technique is less widespread than the two above-mentioned methods. It has to be said that this method is rather difficult to perform. It involves rubbing the flowers between the hands, then collecting the material that has stuck to the skin. This is then rolled into a ball to produce CBD resin. To use this method, you need clean, dry hands and a lot of patience!
