With the arrival of winter and cooler temperatures, one drink is once again taking over market stalls: mulled wine. To make this season even more festive, Mama offers you (in addition to our Christmas gift sets), Mama invites you to discover recipes for CBD mulled wine. For even more relaxing versions of traditional mulled wine, read on.
The traditional recipe for mulled wine with CBD
To start with, I suggest you try a traditional mulled wine recipe to which you can add CBD to combine the soothing and relaxing effects of these two ingredients.
Ingredients/equipment
Here is what you need to make this recipe for 2 people:
● 1 bottle of wine (red or white);
● 1 seasonal orange (preferably organic);
● 1 cinnamon stick;
● 3 tablespoons brown sugar;
● ½ vanilla pod;
● between 2 and 3 grams of CBD;
● a baking sheet and aluminum foil.
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 150°C.
- pour the wine into a saucepan;
- Cut the orange into slices and place them in the pan.
- Cut the cinnamon stick in half (over the pan) and add it to the mixture.
- Cut the vanilla pod (vertically) and place it in the saucepan.
- add the brown sugar;
- simmer for 15 minutes;
- When your oven is hot, place the CBD flowers on a piece of aluminum foil and heat quickly (remember to curl the edges of the aluminum foil).
- Once done, add the CBD flowers to the pan, cover it, and simmer over low heat for another 15 minutes.
All you have to do now is strain the mixture and serve it in the glasses of your choice.
A word of advice : don't leave CBD flowers in the oven for too long, as cannabidiol tends to evaporate quickly.
The trendy recipe for CBD mulled wine
For a trendy mulled wine, I suggest you try a recipe for mulled wine flavored with CBD.
Ingredients/equipment (for 2 to 4 people)
● 1 bottle of wine (red or white);
● between 20 g and 28 g of your favorite CBD variety;
● a strainer (for infusing);
● a strainer and a piece of fabric (tights or other) for filtering;
● a baking sheet and aluminum foil.
Preparation:
- You need to decarboxylate the CBD. To do this, crush your CBD into small pieces and put them in your aluminum foil.
- Place the flowers wrapped in paper on your baking sheet. Heat at 110°C for 40 minutes to 1 hour (this is the time required for decarboxylation).
- Remove them from the oven and spread the contents out on aluminum foil (to prevent mold). Crush the flowers (if possible with a grinder; the finer they are crushed, the better).
- Take your cheesecloth or pantyhose and put the CBD in it, forming a pouch. Condense the whole thing and tie a knot.
- Insert the pouch you have created into the wine bottle of your choice. It must be completely inside the bottle before replacing the bottle cap.
- Leave to infuse all day (for better extraction, shake the bottle from time to time).
Before tasting, remove the pouch, squeezing out as much liquid as possible. You can choose to heat your infused wine or drink it cold (you can chill it for 4 to 7 hours).
Mama's bonus recipe
Not a fan of wine? Or want to try something different? Mama has a recipe for hot apple juice with CBD: the perfect recipe to warm you up during this season.
Ingredients/equipment (for 3 to 5 people)
● ½ liter of apple juice;
● 100 g unsalted butter (you can use coconut oil for a vegan version);
● 75 g cane sugar;
● 1½ teaspoons ground cinnamon;
● 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg;
● ¼ teaspoon ground cloves;
● ⅛ teaspoon salt;
● cinnamon stick (optional);
● 3 to 5 grams of CBD flowers;
● 1 liter of water;
● rum (as much as you like, but I recommend 30 cl);
● 1 jar;
● 1 gauze pad or 1 soft cloth;
● 1 colander;
● 1 wooden spoon.
Preparation
- Put your herbs in the oven for 20 minutes at 90°C.
- Boil 1 liter of water in a saucepan and add the fresh butter. Bring the mixture to a boil.
- Add the ground CBD, then leave on low heat, stirring regularly. Be careful not to overheat the mixture.
- After half an hour/45 minutes, remove the mixture from the heat and strain it into a bowl (using a Chinese strainer if possible).
- Place the bowl in the refrigerator to cool until the butter floats to the surface. After 4-5 hours, remove the butter and place it in cheesecloth to absorb any remaining water.
- Bring the apple juice to a boil over medium heat. Then reduce the heat and mix in the butter and all the other ingredients (cloves, nutmeg, etc., except for the rum).
- Simmer over low heat until the butter and everything else has melted completely.
All you have to do is remove the pan from the heat and add rum to taste. You can then serve in bowls or cups. You can, of course, vary the quantities according to your preference. If you are not used to consuming CBD, opt for low-potency CBD. Of course, always follow the recommended dosages.
