Description of the Tropical Haze CBD Flower

Tropical Haze is a sativa-dominant strain, prized for its exotic fruit and citrus aroma. At Mama Kana, it is available as indoor-grown CBD flowers, a direct descendant of the Haze strains.

Its buds have an airy structure, characteristic of sativas, with green hues interspersed with orange pistils and a layer of trichomes visible on the surface. Its aromatic profile combines notes of mango, pineapple, and orange, followed by a spicy and slightly floral hint. The terpene profile consists primarily of terpinolene, limonene, and β-caryophyllene—three compounds naturally present in hemp that are responsible for much of its aromatic identity.

Origins and History of Tropical Haze

Tropical Haze belongs to the vast family of Haze strains, whose history began in the late 1960s and early 1970s in Santa Cruz, California, spearheaded by brothers R. and J. Haze. They worked to cross several landrace strains to create a sativa with complex aromas and a long flowering period.

The original Haze seeds made their way to the Netherlands in the 1980s, where breeder Neville Schoenmakers selectively bred them over several generations through The Seed Bank of Holland. This work gave rise to the famous Haze A and Haze C strains, which are the basis for numerous hybrids such as Jack Herer, Super Silver Haze, andAmnesia Haze.

Modern Tropical Haze strains are most often derived from a cross between Haze and a Skunk-type strain (such as Big Skunk), sometimes with the addition of fruity genetics to enhance the tropical notes.

Mama Kana’s CBD line builds on this aromatic heritage within a legal framework, with a THC content of less than 0.3%.

Indoor cultivation to preserve the aromas

Tropical Haze CBD is grown in Switzerland using the indoor cultivation method, a technique in which the plants are grown in a controlled environment with strict regulation of light, temperature, and humidity.

This cultivation method allows us to control every aspect of the plant’s life cycle, from growth to flowering. It is particularly well-suited to Haze strains, which have a longer flowering period than Indicas and whose delicate terpenes benefit from being harvested at just the right time. The flowers are then slowly dried and cured before being hand-sorted to retain only the most uniform buds. This approach is consistent with our other indoor CBD flowers, which are grown to the same standards.

Appearance and Aromas of Tropical Haze CBD

Visually, Tropical Haze CBD features fairly airy, elongated buds, typical of sativa-dominant strains. Their color ranges from light green to a deeper green, accented by orange pistils that dot the surface of the buds. A layer of trichomes remains visible, giving the flower a satiny appearance.

In terms of aroma, Tropical Haze is recognizable by its bouquet of ripe tropical fruits, dominated by mango, pineapple, and orange, complemented by a hint of tartness and a spicy note on the finish. The flavors follow the same profile, with a rounded fruitiness that gives way to a more herbaceous and slightly peppery finish.
