Have you ever wondered how to find out what's really in a CBD product? Well, I'm going to explain what CBD traceability is all about. That way, you'll understand why it's essential for your health before you go shopping.

To remember

  • Traceability enables us to trace every stage of production, from seed to label.
  • A good CBD product should always be accompanied by a verifiable certificate of analysis.
  • Serious boutiques like Mama Kana focus on transparency.

How do you know where the CBD in a product comes from?

It all starts with the hemp plant. To guarantee traceability, you first need to know where and how the hemp was grown. Serious brands only use regulated crops from certified seeds, often grown in Europe. This is not only a guarantee of conformity, but also an indicator of quality.

You can learn more about farming practices: some farms adopt natural methods, without chemical fertilizers or synthetic pesticides. This may seem an insignificant detail, but it has a direct influence on the purity of the final extract. A good product always starts with good soil.

Next, the hemp is harvested and then processed to extract the cannabidiol (CBD). The most reliable brands use a clean extraction method such as supercritical CO₂. It isolates the CBD without leaving toxic residues, while preserving the other active compounds present in the plant.

But that's not all. To guarantee traceability, every batch of CBD is registered and tracked, from field to bottle. The best manufacturers provide certificates of analysis, often carried out by independent laboratories. You can consult them online or via a QR code on the packaging.

If you want to see what this looks like in practice, take a look at Mama Kana's selection of hemp CBD oil or cold-pressed CBD oil. These are good examples of well-traced products.

What should a good certificate of analysis contain to track the traceability of CBD?

When you consult a certificate of analysis, you'll find several essential pieces of information. Firstly, the exact CBD concentration, expressed in milligrams or as a percentage. This allows you to compare different products, but above all to know what you're really consuming.

Next, you need to check for the presence of THC. In Ireland, a legal product always contains less than 0.3%. This is specified in black and white on the certificates. The slightest variation can make all the difference, especially in the event of an inspection.

The document may also indicateother cannabinoids present, such as CBG or CBN, as well as certain natural terpenes. The more of these details there are, the more confident you can be. And if the laboratory has also analyzed for the presence of heavy metals, solvents or pesticide residues, that's even better. We're talking about a fully traceable product.

A reliable certificate is always dated, signed and linked to a third-party laboratory. It should not come directly from the manufacturer alone. It should be easy to obtain, without having to ask for anything. If a brand doesn't publish its tests, or if they're unclear or partial, walk away.

With the Mama Kana team, we take the trouble to show everything in black and white. That's what we call doing things by the book.

How can I check whether a CBD product is really traceable?

Want to make the right choice? Here are a few simple reflexes to adopt. Start by reading the label: serious products mention the origin of the hemp, the extraction method used, the precise amount of CBD, and sometimes even the variety of plant used.

Then look for the certificates. As I said above, they must be available, legible and dated. If they're not mentioned at all, or if you have to ask for them by e-mail, don't trust me. A brand that does things properly has no reason to hide its results.

Look at thepackaging too: a QR code, a batch number and the words "laboratory-analyzed" are unmistakable signs. These elements show that there is a real chain of control, transparent and assumed.

Finally, look at the brand. A company that clearly explains its production methods, displays the results of its analyses, highlights its growers or partner laboratories... that's a company with nothing to hide. At Mama Kana, that's exactly what we offer.

All our carefully crafted CBD flowers and CBD resins are fully traceable, with certificates to back them up. You know what you're consuming, where it comes from, and under what conditions it was produced. And that alone is reassuring.

A well-traced product is above all a safer product. When it comes to CBD, confidence comes from proof, not marketing. You deserve to know what you're consuming, to know the origin of what you're putting on your skin. So if you want to consume CBD with confidence, buy our quality products and enjoy all their benefits!
